I'm pretty sure Red started life as a 1968 Varsity 10 speed. I installed a Nexus 8 speed coaster brake hub, cream colored tires, a quill to unthreaded stem adaptor, and a bottom bracket conversion with single chain ring on tapered square cranks.
The chrome fenders are from a 27 inch skinny-tire Schwinn - they're just barely as wide as the tires and ride a bit above them. I replaced the old struts with new ones, and used screws with acorn nuts in place of the rivets.
Red has had many different iterations - is currently set up with Jones Loop handlebars, and an Alfine 8 speed trigger shifter.
